Near Russian border: Vovchansk during winter
Vovchansk, a city in Kharkiv Oblast, is located several miles away from the Russian border.
It’s the second winter Vovchansk spends without gas. Locals say it’s not critical; what’s truly crucial is electricity. Power shortages, though, also happen, because of frequent Russian attacks on the city.
During the occupation of Vovchansk, Russian troops created a torture facility on the local aggregate plant. Every veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war and every person with pro-Ukrainian views were taken there. Right now, the plant is closed and under investigation by the police.
